Vintage Prince Albert Pottery Mug The Anglers Prayer

Here we have a delightful Anglers Prayer pottery tankard shaped mug.

This delightful little mug stands 10.5cm tall 9cm diameter at the base and 8.5cm diameter at the bass and is 13cm in width to the tip of the handle. It is made by Prince William Pottery of Liverpool and is a white base with 22 carat gold bands to the base and top and to the handle. The mug is a traditional tankard shape and is adorned with a happy fisherman and a carp type fish along with the Anglers Prayer as follows

The name of the Prince William pottery originated from its early address on Prince William Street in Liverpool. It was established in 1937 as a wholesale glass and china distribution business by Ray Sanders. After World War 2, Prince William Pottery began to specialise in printed mugs as automated printing processes became more effective and demand grew for commemorative and promotional mugs. By 1952, the company was in a strong position to produce large volumes of printed mugs in readiness for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. As prosperity returned to the UK economy during the 1950s and 60s - and as growing numbers of companies became more aware of how effective promotional products could be - so the fortunes of Prince William Pottery were transformed.

This is a used vintage item and as such some of the gold has worn away around the top. There is also a hairline crack to the mug on the opposite side to the handle, our price reflects the condition and we are selling this mug as an ornamental/decorative mug and not one to be used.

This will be of interest to mug collectors, fishermen, café/restaurants/pubs or period drama productions for decorative purposes.
