Here we have a 1926 Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution medal pendant.

This fabulous little pendant is 4cm tall, and 3cm wide. It is hallmarked sterling silver from London assay office with a hallmark date of 1925 and the makers mark is that of H T Lamb & co 1907 -1939 Masonic Jeweller St Johns Square Clerkenwell London EC. The shield stands proud of the edge and has its own sterling silver and London marks. The front is enamelled white and blue cloisonné with the heraldic shield bearing two crosses and two sets of three stags. Atop the shield is a crown with arms waving feathers next to a snake in figure of eight holding its tail in its mouth. Florets adorn the space between the shield and the outer edge. There is a fixed ring to the back for a chain.

The Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution (RMBI) cares for older Freemasons and their families as well as people in the wider community. Founded in 1842 by Prince Augustus Frederick, Duke of Sussex, they now provide a home for over 1,000 people across England and Wales, while also providing non-residential support services.

The RMBI is one of four central Masonic Charities that support Freemasons and their families through donations from the Masonic community.

The RMBI Head Office is based in Freemasons’ Hall in Great Queen Street along with the Freemasons’ Grand Charity, the Masonic Samaritan Fund and the Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys.

The Grand Master of the order at the time of this pendant was Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn (Arthur William Patrick Albert; 1 May 1850 – 16 January 1942), was the seventh child and third son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. He served as the Governor General of Canada, the tenth since Canadian Confederation and the only British prince to do so. In 1910 he was appointed Grand Prior of the Order of St John and held this position until 1939.

This is a beautiful and rare piece of Masonic memorabilia and will be highly sought after.

    PLEASE NOTE

As of May 2021 we no longer offer free postage. Postage is a cost regardless of whether it is offered as 'free'. We do include packaging in the item cost so the postage charged is just the actual postage cost. We prefer our customers to see what they are paying for the item and what they are paying for postage. We always try to offer the best value postage for the items being sent. We will ensure safe packaging for delivery and use royal mail second class signed for. We also offer two other paid options for quicker UK delivery. Although cheaper alternatives are available we have found them to be less reliable and use less care handling your items. You are always welcome to collect at an agreed time to suit all concerned.
